The Kosovo Gulf Federation withdraws from the European Championship for Seniors in Cyprus: We do not accept unequal treatment

The Kosovo Gulf Football Federation has announced its withdrawal from the 2026 European Championship, which commenced today in Paphos, Cyprus. This decision comes despite the federation having achieved sporting qualification and having finalized all preparatory arrangements for participation. In an official statement, the federation conveyed its deep regret regarding this withdrawal.

The announcement highlighted that the Kosovar player, Azer Bislimaj, had qualified for the prestigious European tournament for a second time. Furthermore, the statement confirmed that the official registration of the Kosovo Gulf Federation was completed on April 23, 2026. All associated financial obligations, encompassing travel and accommodation, were settled in advance by the federation.

The federation also noted the extensive preparation undertaken by the team, citing that Bislimaj had participated in months of intensive training, which included the organization of two dedicated training camps in preparation for the championship. This decision marks a notable deviation from the planned participation of the Kosovo national team in the upcoming European competition.
