Calls for the resignation of Abdixhiku, says Haziri: They caught us off guard

Lutfi Haziri, the Deputy Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, commented on the internal political pressures stemming from the party’s branches in Peja and Lipjan. These branches have presented a formal demand calling for the removal of the party leader following the recent elections held on April 7. Haziri framed this situation as an internal exercise of democracy within the party structure, characterizing the challenge as a political directive.

Haziri indicated that the party’s governing organs are set to address the various demands. Specifically, he mentioned that the concerns raised by Gazmend Muhaxheri and Imri Ahmeti, alongside the subsequent reaction from Lumir Abdixhiku, will be managed through established party procedures. Addressing the call for his ouster directly, Lumir Abdixhiku stated that the demand for his removal was not unexpected, suggesting that such political challenges are anticipated following electoral cycles.

Regarding the situation, abdixhiku noted that his response developed naturally, building upon initial acknowledgments. Meanwhile, haziri maintained that the party mechanisms would oversee the resolution of these internal political disputes. The statements collectively underscore a period of internal deliberation within the party leadership concerning the post-election political landscape.
