Hysni Mehani, the head of the Self-Determination Movement branch in Skenderaj and the communal assembly, reported that 42 days have passed since the attack he endured. Mehani indicated a lack of official updates concerning the assigned prosecutor or the current status of the investigation. In a public statement, Mehani detailed the limited procedural steps taken regarding the incident.
He noted that, beyond providing an initial statement to the police immediately following the event and submitting a medical report, there had been no subsequent developments in the case. “As I write this post, I do not know who the prosecutor of the case is! Except for the day the incident happened when I gave a statement to some police officers and a phone call after several days to submit the doctor’s report and if I want; nothing else!”, Mehani stated.
The core of Mehani’s concern centers on the lack of transparency in the legal process following the physical assault. Mehani confirmed that the attack was perpetrated by Sami Lusht. His account suggests that the investigation has stalled, leaving him without clarity regarding the judicial handling of the charges.
The elapsed time of 42 days without further official communication regarding the prosecutor or investigative progress has prompted this public address from Mehani.
