Starlink offers free internet in Venezuela after devastating earthquakes

Starlink, the satellite internet service associated with Elon Musk, has announced that it will provide free service to users in Venezuela for a period of one month. This initiative comes as major telecommunications companies across Venezuela are also offering complimentary internet, television, and phone connections to assist residents in maintaining communication following recent earthquakes. Companies participating in this effort include Cantv and Digitel.

Specifically, Starlink is offering free service through July 25th to both new and existing customers impacted by the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela. The company stated that it is working to rapidly deploy Starlink terminals and restore connectivity to the hardest-hit areas, although widespread infrastructure damage from the earthquakes presents ongoing challenges. This coordinated effort from multiple providers aims to mitigate the communication disruption caused by the natural disaster.

By offering free access to essential services, Starlink and other local telecommunications providers are attempting to keep communities connected across Venezuela during the recovery phase.
