A public prosecutor representing the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption has formally filed charges in the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje. The charges have been brought against the director of the State Plant Inspection, alleging the criminal offense of “Embezzlement.”
According to the indictment presented to the court, the allegations assert that the director utilized his official capacity to obtain a significant material benefit for himself during March of this year. The charges specifically contend that the director acted with the intent of executing an official act that was outside the scope of his authorized duties.
The indictment further details a specific instance of alleged misconduct involving the regulation of agricultural inputs. It claims that the director exerted undue influence to prevent the approval for importing artificial fertilizers intended for a legal entity engaged in their production and import. This alleged action is noted as particularly concerning because the director, according to the filing, had a prior history of approving the importation of these specific goods.
The prosecution argues that by intervening in the approval process, the director improperly influenced official procedures for personal gain. These charges place the director before the Basic Criminal Court to determine the veracity of the claims regarding misuse of public office and financial impropriety.
