Prizren Server: Kosovo must lobby for NATO membership to be part of the US agenda

An international forum was convened in the Municipal Assembly Hall in Prizren to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Independence. The event focused on the theme, “American Inspiration for Kosovo on its Journey Towards Democracy and Freedom.”

The gathering brought together several prominent figures to discuss the region’s complex geopolitical landscape. Participants included American professors Daniel Serwer and Edward Joseph, defense strategist Mario Marquez, Albanian-American civic leader Besa Pinchotti, and the Mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj.

Discussions centered on critical areas such as regional security dynamics, pathways toward Euro-Atlantic integration, and the ongoing diplomatic challenges confronting Kosovo. A significant portion of the dialogue addressed the country’s potential trajectory toward membership in NATO. During the forum, Professor Edward Joseph offered a perspective suggesting that Kosovo’s future alignment lies within the North Atlantic Alliance.

He specifically highlighted the ongoing diplomatic reality concerning the international recognition of Kosovo’s declared independence. The assembly provided a platform for various stakeholders to exchange views on governance, democratic development, and regional stability, framing the American experience as a point of reference for the progress of Kosovo in achieving greater democratic autonomy and freedom.
