IKD, KDI, and FOL: The process for electing the new Prosecutor General so far regulated

The Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD), alongside the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI) and the FOL Movement, has been actively monitoring the comprehensive selection and appointment process for the State Prosecutor. This oversight covered several critical phases of the procedure, providing a detailed assessment of the mechanisms put in place. The scope of the monitoring encompassed key procedural stages, including the official approval of the necessary regulations governing the election of the Prosecutor.

Furthermore, the monitoring team tracked the confirmation of various candidates, the drafting of pertinent interview questions, and the subsequent interviews conducted with five prospective candidates. Through this public statement, the monitoring bodies are releasing their preliminary report, noting that a comprehensive final report will be issued upon the conclusion of the entire process. Based on the stages monitored thus far, the Coalition has assessed the management by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK).

The monitoring confirms that the overall process has maintained a degree of regularity and transparency throughout its development. The involvement of institutions like the IKD underscores the commitment to institutional oversight regarding the selection of the Prosecutor. The continuous tracking of these steps is designed to ensure that the entire selection process adheres to established legal and ethical standards, thereby upholding the integrity of the judicial appointment mechanism.

The preliminary findings aim to provide the public with a transparent overview of the procedural milestones achieved to date.
