Dairy farmers are protesting today in front of the Ministry with cisterns and tractors

Kosovar dairy farmers are scheduled to hold a protest today, commencing at 1:00 PM outside the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development in Pristina. The demonstration, organized by the Kosovar Dairy Farmers Association, aims to draw attention to significant concerns regarding the current state of the local dairy sector. According to the association, the primary catalyst for the protest is the documented disruption in the collection of fresh milk from local farms.

The farmers assert that this ongoing issue places the viability of numerous local producers at substantial risk. Furthermore, the planned demonstration follows the recent temporary shutdown of the “Vita” milk processing plant located in Istog, an action that occurred subsequent to intervention by authorities. The assembly of farmers has indicated that they plan to participate in the protest utilizing agricultural machinery, including tractors and milk tankers, alongside their members.

The collective action represents a coordinated effort by the farming community to seek immediate redress for the economic instability within the dairy supply chain. The association has stated that the protest is a necessary measure to engage governmental bodies and stakeholders regarding policy changes and support mechanisms for the agricultural industry. The focus remains on stabilizing the collection routes and ensuring consistent operational capacity for processing facilities that serve the dairy sector.
