VLEN: After five years of delays, the Skopje–Bllacë highway finally enters the construction phase

The construction of the Skopje–Bllacë highway is reportedly entering a tangible building phase, according to VLEN. The announcement marks a transition from long-standing plans to active development for the critical infrastructure link. VLEN stated that the project, which has been a subject of discussion since 2008, is now moving forward following the signing of a contract.

Specifically, the second segment of the highway, measuring 10.5 kilometers, is scheduled to commence construction in August. The estimated duration for the entire construction process is set at four years, with the total project value assessed at approximately 200 million euros. The completion of this major highway is anticipated to yield several significant benefits for the region.

According to VLEN, the road will establish a more efficient connection to Kosovo, serving as a vital economic corridor for both local citizens and businesses. Furthermore, proponents suggest the project will alleviate congestion at the existing border crossing points and promote closer integration between the populations on both sides of the border. The initiation of work on this crucial highway linking Skopje to Bllacë represents a major development in regional connectivity.

The confirmation of the timeline and funding details provides a concrete framework for the realization of this long-awaited piece of infrastructure.
