Prebreza: Mammography comes to Kosovo for the first time

The Municipality of Fushë Kosovë will begin offering mammography services for breast cancer screening starting August 1, according to statements from Mayor Valon Prebreza. In an announcement made via social media, Prebreza confirmed that the specialized screening service will be accessible to citizens at the Family Medicine Center 2 (QMF 2). Prebreza emphasized the significance of this development, noting that the availability of mammography services marks a significant milestone for the municipality.

He stated that the provision of this screening tool is a direct result of an investment valued at 80,000 euros. This local initiative is framed within a broader national framework. Mayor Prebreza indicated that the equipment is part of a larger national project aimed at installing a total of 16 mammography machines across the Republic of Kosovo.

He highlighted that Fushë Kosovë will be the first municipality to benefit from this advanced screening capability. The introduction of routine mammography screening is intended to enhance early detection rates for breast cancer within the community. By making this advanced diagnostic service available locally, municipal authorities aim to improve public health outcomes and ensure that residents have timely access to necessary preventive care.

The rollout marks a key step in expanding specialized healthcare resources throughout the region.
