A foreign national was detained at the Vërmicë border crossing on suspicion of offering a bribe. According to the Kosovo Police, the incident took place on April 4, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM during a routine document check of a bus at the border crossing. During the inspection process, police officers discovered a five-euro banknote concealed within the suspect’s travel documents.
When questioned by the officers regarding the presence of the money, the individual stated that he had left the funds for “coffee” for the police conducting the check. Following the questioning, and based on the decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was taken into custody. Authorities are currently investigating the matter to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The detention is part of the ongoing investigation being managed by the competent authorities.
