Data released by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics indicates an increase in the number of reported divorces during 2025 compared to the preceding year. In total, 2,192 divorces were registered in 2025, marking an increase of 46 cases from the 2,146 recorded in 2024. This represents an overall rise of 2.1 percent in the annual statistics.
Analysis by municipality reveals variations in the frequency of these legal filings. Prizren recorded the highest number of divorces, accounting for 192 cases, which constituted 8.8 percent of the total. Following this, Pristina reported 175 cases, representing 8.0 percent, while Peja registered 163 cases, accounting for 7.4 percent of the total filings.
Furthermore, the data provided sheds light on the duration of the marriages involved in the divorces. The largest proportion of these cases belonged to unions that had lasted between five and nine years, totaling 627 cases. This single duration bracket accounted for 28.6 percent of all reported divorces.
The statistics suggest that the majority of the divorces are concentrated within this specific timeframe, although further data on other marriage durations is available.
