Kosovo receives 44 million euros in grants from the EU for the environment and climate

The acting Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure, Fitore Pacolli, announced that Kosovo has successfully secured financial support totaling 44 million euros from the European Union designated for environmental and climate initiatives. According to Minister Pacolli, this allocation forms a component of a broader financial package valued at 206.4 million euros provided by the EU. This comprehensive EU funding package is structured to support several key areas, including 180.5 million euros channeled through the IPA programs for the 2026-2027 period, alongside an additional 25.9 million euros from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The specific funds earmarked for environmental protection within Kosovo are intended to drive sustainable development practices. These resources will be directed toward establishing integrated waste management systems, implementing critical river protection measures, and enhancing overall flood risk management capabilities across the nation. Minister Pacolli emphasized that these incoming funds are instrumental in facilitating necessary institutional reforms.

The projects supported by this significant infusion of euros are designed to modernize environmental governance and ensure that Kosovo can meet its sustainability goals. The commitment of these millions of euros underscores the EU’s continued support for green infrastructure and resilient development within the country.
