Over 1,800 traffic fines in Gjilan

Between April 3 and April 9, the Regional Traffic Unit and local police stations in Gjilan conducted comprehensive operational safety plans, resulting in the issuance of 1,815 total fines. The enforcement operations covered a wide spectrum of traffic safety issues, alongside extensive accident investigations. Authorities reported investigating a total of 43 traffic accidents during this period: ten incidents involving material damage and thirty-three accidents resulting in injuries.

Beyond accident investigation, the focus remained heavily on compliance and safety enforcement. Specific violations addressed included numerous instances of unsafe driving practices. Personnel were responsible for issuing 26 fines related to the failure to wear seatbelts and 30 fines for the use of mobile phones while operating vehicles.

Furthermore, enforcement targeted vehicle compliance, resulting in 15 fines for unauthorized vehicle modifications, such as the use of dark foils. The unit also conducted proactive traffic management, implementing safety measures at 27 key intersections through scheduled traffic stops. In addition to general violations, specific measures were taken against motorcycle operators.

Authorities were issuing fines to 16 individuals operating motorcycles without the requisite driver’s license and another 16 fines to those operating motorcycles without proper registration. Overall, the sustained effort demonstrates a concentrated effort by local law enforcement to enhance public traffic safety through rigorous monitoring and issuing penalties for infractions.
