Only six deputies enter Parliament through the gender quota

According to data released by the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), the new legislature of the Kosovo Parliament will feature 41 female deputies, representing 34 percent of the total parliamentary composition. Analysis of the mandates shows that 35 of these deputies were elected via popular vote, while six additional seats were secured through the established gender quota mechanism. The distribution of seats gained through the gender quota varied among political entities.

Specifically, Aleanca was allocated three seats, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) received two seats, and the Serbian List (LS) obtained one seat from this quota system. This data indicates that the majority of female deputies were elected based on direct citizen voting, with the gender quota mechanism contributing representation for six additional deputies. Overall, the 34 percent representation of women among the deputies is notable as it remains above the established minimum threshold for gender parity in the legislature.

The figures highlight the dual sources of representation, balancing popular mandate with the structural support provided by the gender quota system in shaping the composition of the parliamentary body.
