On April 10, 2026, local law enforcement in Prizren initiated an investigation concerning the illicit cultivation of controlled substances. The incident, which took place around 9:00 AM on “Jusuf Gërvalla” street, resulted in the detention of a Kosovar male following a comprehensive search conducted by police units. Acting under a judicial mandate, the police executed searches covering the suspect’s residence, garage, and vehicle.
During the inspection of the property, authorities discovered several items suggesting illegal horticultural activity. Specifically, two suspected cannabis plants, measuring 50 and 62 centimeters in length, were recovered from the yard of the dwelling. In addition to the flora, the police also confiscated an electronic scale from the premises.
The suspect was subsequently interviewed by competent authorities and detained based on the decision of the prosecutor’s office. The case has been formally registered under the charge of “Cultivation of hashish, cocaine, or cannabis plants.” The initial actions taken by the police focused on establishing the extent of the cultivation operation and collecting evidence related to the illegal growing of cannabis plants. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the full scope of the activity and any potential networks involved in the cultivation or distribution of these controlled materials.
