The reopening of the judicial investigation in the case of the triple murder in Gllogjan

The Peja Court scheduled the reopening of the case concerning the triple homicide in Gllogjan for July 10, 2026. The judicial proceedings involve Halil, Kreshnik, and Kastriot Mehmetaj, who are accused of shooting with a Kalashnikov rifle on the evening of November 26, 2021. The alleged motive for the incident was revenge.

The victims in this case included two 17-year-old students, identified as L.H. and G.M., along with the bus driver, G.G. The court announced the decision to reopen the trial on the very day a verdict was anticipated.

Leon Përlaska, the head of the judicial body, confirmed that the reopening was prompted by the Prosecution presenting video footage. Specifically, the footage reportedly showed the accused, Kreshnik Mehmetaj, discharging a weapon. The judge stated that this evidence was the basis for the judicial body’s decision to restart the proceedings.

This development significantly alters the timeline for the resolution of the case. The court’s decision to revisit the evidence suggests a potential reassessment of the existing evidence in the pursuit of a final judgment regarding the triple homicide.
