The Tax Administration of Kosovo (ATK) has issued a notification to all natural persons who derive income from renting out residential properties, houses, or other real estate assets. This requirement extends to income generated through digital platforms, such as Airbnb, and similar online marketplaces. ATK mandates that all such earnings must be formally declared and are subject to taxation according to prevailing tax legislation.
The ATK stated that as part of its ongoing efforts to identify and regulate the informal economy, it has analyzed available data and information. This analysis indicated that a number of individuals have generated income from property rentals without registering with the ATK, declaring the revenue, or fulfilling their corresponding tax obligations. Consequently, the ATK is urging all individuals who earn income from property rentals to take immediate action.
They must ensure full compliance with tax laws by properly registering their activities and submitting accurate declarations. Failure to adhere to these requirements could result in penalties. The administration emphasizes that transparency and timely tax reporting are crucial for all property rental income sources, regardless of the platform used.
