Liberian authorities have confiscated nearly four tons of suspected cocaine, valued at approximately $317 million (277 million euros), in what officials described as one of the nation’s largest drug seizures. The operation occurred on the road approaching Roberts International Airport, situated about 30 kilometers from the capital, Monrovia. Two foreign nationals were arrested during the raid, according to Telegrafi.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice stated that the seizure exposed an “organized, sophisticated, complex, and well-funded drug trafficking network.” Investigators reported discovering approximately 3,971 kilograms of suspected processed cocaine, carrying an estimated street value of $317.7 million (279.1 million euros). The National Police of Liberia confirmed the significant scale of the operation. The authorities emphasized that the confiscation points to substantial illicit drug activity within the country.
The recovered cocaine represents a major interception effort aimed at disrupting transnational criminal organizations. The high value, reaching hundreds of millions of dollars and euros, underscores the seriousness of the drug trade encountered by Liberian law enforcement.
