Bedri Hamza, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, stated that he did not discuss the potential political return of former President Hashim Thaçi and former Speaker of the Parliament, Kadri Veseli, with them following the conclusion of the judicial proceedings in The Hague. Speaking in Debat Plus, Hamza indicated that during his meetings with both Thaçi and Veseli, the topic of their future political involvement was not addressed. He emphasized that any decision regarding their continued commitment to politics rests solely with the individuals themselves.
“In my meetings, my visits to Mr. Thaçi, to Mr. Veseli, we did not discuss whether they would show commitment or if they would be part of politics after this process concludes.
It is in their authority. I do not know if they will continue to be involved in politics,” Hamza stated. These comments follow the ongoing judicial process concerning former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which is currently taking place in the Special Chambers.
Hamza’s remarks clarify that his discussions with both prominent figures did not include making plans for their post-trial political careers. The statement underscores a degree of distance between the party leadership and any predetermined plans for the individuals mentioned.
