Albania responds to Croatia, Minister Hoxha meets Croatian counterpart: Nationalist rhetoric cannot drag the region down

Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha issued a strong condemnation of statements made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić regarding Kosovo’s status, as well as remarks from his minister, Snežana Paunović, concerning the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo. The minister addressed the issue during a conference held in Tirana alongside the Croatian counterpart. Speaking at the event, Hoxha emphasized the critical importance of ongoing dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

He stated that this process must not be founded upon historical revisionism, the denial of established facts, the glorification of war criminals, or through any nationalist and divisive rhetoric. Furthermore, Hoxha criticized declarations that attempt to relativize, justify, or lend legitimacy to war crimes and policies already condemned by international justice and human conscience. The statements from Belgrade were sharply criticized by the Albanian representative, who maintained that such rhetoric undermines the path toward a peaceful resolution.

The focus of the Albanian delegation remains on ensuring that any dialogue concerning Kosovo adheres to international law and principles of accountability. The minister’s remarks underscore Albania’s commitment to factual discourse over politically charged narratives regarding the region’s history and governance.
