Lecce striker Lameck Banda has been the subject of unusual reports in Italian football this summer after failing to attend the club’s pre-season training camp for over two weeks. The Zambian international was anticipated to rejoin the club following the summer break. Initially, Banda had communicated to Lecce that his absence was due to travel complications and administrative procedures.
However, the situation escalated as days passed, becoming increasingly irregular. Not only did Banda miss mandatory medical examinations arranged by the club, but he also ceased all communication with Lecce’s management. Attempts by club officials to reach him via phone or message reportedly went unanswered.
The lack of contact prompted public acknowledgment from the club’s sporting director, Stefano Trinchera. Trinchera confirmed that Lecce had been unsuccessful in establishing contact with the player.
