The UBT team will represent Kosovo at the FIRST Global Challenge 2026, a premier international competition for gifted students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This year’s event is scheduled to take place in Incheon, South Korea, from October 7th to 10th. The competition’s theme, “Igniting Innovation,” focuses participants on developing novel solutions to one of the most significant environmental challenges of the modern era: wildfires.
Teams are challenged to address the impact of these fires on nature, biodiversity, and local communities. The UBT team, comprising six students—Klea Hajrizi, Amar Rama, Melos Grainca, Jon Thaçi, Marta Çerkini, and Ylli Osmani—will be competing in this prestigious global robotics event. Participation highlights the region’s involvement in advanced STEM fields.
The FIRST Global Challenge is recognized for gathering top young talent from around the world. The focus on environmental problem-solving, specifically wildfire mitigation, provides a clear directive for the ubt team’s engineering efforts. The event underscores the role of technological innovation in addressing critical ecological issues, making it a key platform for showcasing student capability in global problem-solving.
