The Department for Serious Crimes has assumed responsibility for the investigation concerning the defendant, identified by the initials S.M., and the detention request has been submitted to the Basic Court in Gjakova. The alleged crime is suspected to have taken place on August 2, 2026, at approximately 1:30 AM, near the entrance of a commercial property in Gjakova.
According to the prosecutor’s statement, the defendant is suspected of confronting the victim, A.M., as he was entering his residence. The confrontation reportedly involved the defendant demanding money and subsequently threatening the victim with a knife. It is alleged that the defendant confronted the victim, stating, “Give the money,” while pointing a knife toward the victim’s abdomen.
This action prompted the legal authorities to seek immediate detention. The prosecutor’s office cited the seriousness of the allegations and the nature of the suspected crime to support the request for the pre-trial measure. The Basic Court is now tasked with reviewing the evidence and the prosecutor’s petition regarding the detention period.
