The opposition party, LSDM, has accused the government of entering into a €100,000 supply agreement for drinking water intended for the citizens of Gostivar. LSDM alleges that this contract was finalized through a negotiation procedure that bypassed mandatory public announcement, occurring at a time when residents of Gostivar were reportedly experiencing health issues linked to contaminated water sources. According to the opposition party, the government executed what they termed a “business agreement without a tender.” LSDM specifically claims that the purchase of the drinking water in Gostivar was made from a factory identified as “Kozhuvçanka.” The opposition further alleged conflicts of interest, stating that the company is owned by the head of the Municipality of Kavadar, and that the transaction was overseen by Ivica Tomovski, the director of SHÇPP.
In response to these accusations, the government issued a formal denial, labeling the claims made by LSDM as “complete disinformation.” Government representatives dismissed the allegations, stating that the accusations were based on falsehoods. The dispute centers on the procurement process for essential public resources. While LSDM focuses on procedural irregularities and potential conflicts of interest surrounding the supply of water to Gostivar, the government maintains that its actions were lawful and that the opposition’s claims lack factual basis.
