97-year-old British woman breaks her record by walking across an airplane’s wing

Betty Bromage has successfully broken her Guinness World Record as the oldest woman to perform a wing walk. This feat involves standing on the wing of an airplane while it is in motion. She had previously established this record four years ago.

Bromage’s adventurous performance is intended to generate funds for the head trauma treatment unit at Cheltenham General Hospital, where she received care following a head injury in 2025. In total, she has completed six wing walks over the past decade. Speaking to the BBC, Bromage shared her motivation, stating, “Otherwise, I would be miserable with life.

I can’t drive the car, I don’t see very well, and sometimes I feel frustrated. So I want to do what I can.” At the age of 97, her commitment to this demanding activity highlights her determination. The achievement solidifies her status as a notable endurance performer.

By undertaking this daring wing walk, she continues to support vital medical care at the hospital. Her continued participation underscores a dedication to overcoming physical limitations through remarkable feats.
