The Ministry of Health in Macedonia has announced a revision to the coverage guidelines for specific medications, ensuring that insured individuals can once again obtain the drug “Foster” without incurring supplementary costs at the pharmacy. This decision follows notification from the company holding the marketing authorization for “Foster,” which is listed on the Positive List of Medicines. The modification was implemented with the stated objective of enhancing patient access and affordability for those requiring treatment.
Effective starting this month, insured patients will receive “Foster” at the pharmacy without requiring additional out-of-pocket payments. Patients will remain responsible only for the statutory participation fee associated with the dispensing service of the medicine upon presentation of a valid prescription. This favorable policy adjustment extends beyond “Foster.” The same coverage terms apply to any other medications that contain the identical active ingredients and are utilized in the management and treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the efficacy and accessibility of essential treatments, ensuring that critical pharmaceuticals remain within the reach of the insured population. This update aims to streamline the process for managing chronic respiratory conditions by minimizing financial barriers for patients.
