This volume represents the highest recorded movement for the crossing this year, occurring as the tourist season reaches its peak. Increased traffic is attributed to tourists from Kosovo, North Macedonia, and other neighboring countries traveling to Albania for summer holidays.
Additionally, the movement is bolstered by the return of the diaspora. Official data indicates that during a three-hour period alone, over 25,000 Albanian citizens entered from Kosovo, accompanied by 7,000 vehicles. Across the full 12-hour period, 41,183 entries and 35,584 exits were officially registered at the Morina crossing.
Despite the substantial flow of people and vehicles, reports confirm that no queues were observed at the border crossing. Currently, the Morina crossing is operational with 12 lanes to manage the high volume. The consistent high traffic suggests sustained movement related to peak tourism and cross-border travel.
