BDI: Let Parliament be dissolved, let us go to elections

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) issued a statement welcoming Prime Minister Christian Mickoski’s expressed willingness to hold early parliamentary elections, should the opposition demand it. The BDI asserted that the opposition has made its demand, noting that the Prime Minister has acknowledged the current political instability and the necessity for a renewed mandate for the country. The statement further argued that the current government has forfeited its legitimacy due to its perceived stance on European integration, the deterioration of relationships with friendly nations, the alleged violation of the Ohrid Agreement, and the undermining of Albanian representation within key institutions.

Consequently, the BDI demanded that the Prime Minister’s statement be immediately followed by concrete action. Specifically, the union called for the establishment of the earliest constitutional deadline for new elections within days. They insisted that preparatory measures for the polls begin immediately, thereby granting the citizenry the opportunity to participate in a vote.

The BDI emphasized that these actions must be taken swiftly to address the current political climate.
