The Albanian anthem was not respected during Mickoski’s visit to Pustec, the mayor: We did not organize it

The Macedonian Folklore Festival continued on its second day in the Municipality of Pustec, drawing the attendance of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski. A notable point of discussion during the ceremony was the performance of anthems, as only the national anthem of North Macedonia was played, rather than the anthem of Albania. Pali Kolefski, the Head of the Municipality of Pustec, issued a statement seeking understanding regarding the situation.

He clarified that the municipality was merely an invited participant and was not responsible for organizing the event. Kolefski recounted that prior to the festival, he had requested the official program from the organizers, specifically from the head of the VMRO association in Albania. He stated that the organizers had assured him the event would feature Macedonian traditional songs and dances, and that the proceedings would commence with the Macedonian anthem.

Kolefski noted that when he requested confirmation regarding the performance of the national anthem, the organizers provided assurances regarding its inclusion. The statement serves to delineate the role of the local government, emphasizing that the municipality’s involvement was supportive rather than organizational. The focus remains on the sequence of cultural performances and the subsequent clarification of local administrative roles during the festival proceedings.
