The Ministry of Defence has reported a significant escalation in fire activity across Albania, documenting twenty fire outbreaks within the last 24 hours. Currently, nine of these incidents remain active, with one additional site under monitoring. To manage the complex situation, a substantial response effort has been mobilized, involving 235 operational forces and 33 fire trucks.
Support for these efforts has been provided by 140 personnel from the Armed Forces, three helicopters, and two Air Tractor planes. Two primary areas are experiencing significant incidents. The outbreak in Gojan–Gjegjan and Pukë continues to present challenges, primarily due to prevailing strong winds and the challenging, rugged terrain.
Efforts in this area are concentrated on protecting residential structures, and necessary resident evacuations have been completed. Air Force support for this operation included 40 personnel and three helicopters. Another active site of concern is Mal Milot in Kurbin.
While this outbreak remains ongoing, the immediate risk to nearby residences is being assessed. The sheer number of outbreaks reported over the last few hours underscores the scale of the emergency response required. Authorities are continuing to deploy resources to stabilize the situation and contain the various blazes across different regions.
