Fire situation in Albania: Ministry of Defence: 9 hotspots remain active, 235 forces on the ground

The Ministry of Defence issued a report on Friday detailing the management of multiple fire incidents across the region over the last 24 hours. Authorities reported 20 instances of fire outbreaks, with nine currently classified as active and one remaining under monitoring. In response to these developing situations, substantial resources were mobilized.

Operational forces included 235 personnel, supported by 33 fire trucks. Furthermore, the response effort was augmented by 140 personnel from the Armed Forces, alongside air support consisting of three helicopters and two Air Tractor planes. Two major fire locations required significant operational focus.

At Gojan–Gjegjan in Pukë, the situation remains challenging due to strong winds and the rugged nature of the terrain. Response forces concentrated efforts on protecting residential areas, and successful resident evacuations were reported. This operation received additional support from the Air Force, contributing 40 personnel and three helicopters.

A second significant incident was reported in Mal Milot, Kurbin. While the fire remains active, authorities confirmed that the immediate risk to residences has been mitigated for the time being. Firefighting forces and military personnel are currently on site managing the ongoing situation.

The overall deployment of various military and civil forces underscores the scale of the ongoing response efforts to control the widespread fire activity.
