Nearly five years after the tragedy, the decision to kill the three in Gllogjan was revealed today

The Basic Court in Peja is scheduled to announce its verdict today concerning the case of Halil, Kreshnik, and Kastriot Mehmetaj, who stand accused of a triple murder that took place in Gllogjan. The session dedicated to announcing the verdict is set to begin at 2:30 PM. The case centers on a severe incident that occurred on November 26, 2021, when a bus traveling through Gllogjan was subjected to an attack involving firearms.

The violence resulted in the deaths of the bus driver, Gani Gjokaj, and two 17-year-old students, identified as L.H and G.M. Additionally, one other individual sustained serious injuries during the attack. According to the indictment filed by the Public Prosecutor’s office, the primary target of the attack was the bus driver, Gani Gjokaj.

The prosecution alleges that the Mehmetaj family harbored resentment, claiming that they held Gjokaj responsible for the suicide of their daughter, Heroina Mehmetaj. This alleged grievance formed the basis of the motive presented by the prosecution for the violence. The judicial review of the murder charges was reopened following the presentation of new evidence.

The proceedings today represent a significant stage in the legal process, as the court is set to deliver its final ruling on the charges related to the deadly events in Gllogjan.
