Bekim Berisha, also known by the moniker “Abeja,” was a fighter in the Kosovo Liberation Army who died heroically on August 10, 1998, following several hours of combat with Serbian forces. Born on June 15, 1966, Bekim Berisha hailed from the village of Graboc in Peja. His family background in the region was marked by resistance.
The grandfather of Bekim, Nexhip Selmani, had previously fought against Serbian occupation forces during past years. Bekim’s father, Fazli, and his mother, Fahrije, were part of a large family, raising six children, including Bekimi. Bekim Berisha received his primary education in Gorazhdevc, located in Peja, and completed his secondary schooling in Peja.
