Besjan Rexhepi responds to the Minister of Justice regarding the issue of Jurisprudence: Students’ positions are clear and unchanged

Besjan Rexhepi, the Chairman of the EUJL Student Parliament, issued a statement following remarks made by the Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari. Shasivari had indicated plans to convene a meeting with students to discuss and establish a legal resolution concerning the matter of Jurisprudence. In response, Rexhepi maintained that the stance of the students remains firm and unambiguous.

According to Rexhepi, the demands put forth by the students are not based on subjective desires or political interpretations. Instead, they are grounded in the Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia and established national laws that guarantee the linguistic rights and equality of all citizens. Rexhepi asserted that because the basis for the claim is constitutional and legal, there is no necessity for the issue to escalate further.

He emphasized that the path to resolution is already concrete and achievable. For the issue to progress, he stated, only institutional will is required for its implementation. The exchange highlights a divergence in perspectives regarding the necessary steps for resolving the dispute over Jurisprudence.

While the Ministry of Justice proposed a consultative meeting, Rexhepi’s communication stressed the clarity and unwavering nature of the students’ position. He maintained that the legal framework supporting their claims is sufficiently established, requiring only the formal commitment of relevant bodies to realize the agreed-upon solution.
