How many goal-scoring chances! A powerful storm hits Switzerland

A severe storm impacted parts of western and southwestern Switzerland, resulting in widespread damage, power disruptions, and significant transportation difficulties. According to SRF Meteo, the weather event was marked by an unusually high number of lightning strikes, with approximately 46,000 recorded in a short period. In certain locations, the hail reached a substantial diameter of up to 6 centimeters.

Wind gusts reached speeds of up to 142 km/h in the canton of Schaffhausen, and the region of Hallau experienced 23 millimeters of rain in just ten minutes. The canton of Solothurn was identified as one of the hardest-hit areas by authorities. While over 200 damage reports were received, no injuries have been reported as of this writing.

The storm also led to several incidents involving transportation infrastructure. Reports indicate that one truck overturned on the A1 motorway, making contact with a transport van. Additionally, in another area affected by the severe weather, four electric poles were damaged.

The combination of intense weather elements—including high winds, heavy rainfall, and large hailstones—has caused considerable disruption across the affected regions of Switzerland.
