On September 16, the Special Court is scheduled to issue a verdict concerning Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi. Due to significant public interest, the court has received a high volume of access requests. Despite the anticipation surrounding the final ruling, physical access to the courtroom gallery will be severely restricted.
The court has managed a capacity of 80 available seats in the public gallery. This allocation accounts for specific reserved areas, including 40 seats designated for the immediate family members of the involved parties and an additional 40 seats reserved for accredited media personnel. The number of requests received substantially exceeds the physical capacity of the venue.
With over 220 total requests submitted, the court can accommodate only a fraction of those interested in attending the proceedings. Consequently, the vast majority of interested parties will not have the opportunity to witness the reading of the verdict in real time from within the courtroom. Those who cannot secure one of the limited seats will instead be required to follow the proceedings and the announcement of the verdict through the Court’s official broadcast channels.
This measure ensures that while access is limited, the outcome remains available to the public via electronic means.
