A significant majority of Premier League fans express strong opposition to the use of VAR, according to a recent survey. The Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) conducted the research, gathering opinions from a substantial pool of supporters. Nearly 8,000 fans participated in the survey, representing all 20 teams competing in the top flight this season.
The findings reveal a widespread dissatisfaction with the technology’s implementation. Ninety percent of those surveyed stated they believe the introduction of VAR has negatively impacted the stadium experience. Furthermore, an astonishing 91% of fans feel that VAR has damaged the natural spontaneity of goal celebrations.
A considerable 94% also disagree that VAR enhances the enjoyment of watching football on television. “The results clearly demonstrate that most fans desire the removal of VAR,” stated a representative. “We’ve observed the detrimental effects of VAR over a prolonged period.
Fans are frustrated by the delays, questions surrounding its accuracy, and the overall loss of the game’s inherent excitement.”
The survey highlights a growing sentiment among fans regarding the impact of var on the league and the viewing experience.
