A worker from the Ministry of Interior was dismissed after driving in the opposite direction and threatening a police officer.

Yesterday, April 1st, 2026, the Ministry of Interior of North Macedonia announced the arrest of S.R. (45), a staff member within the General and Joint Affairs Sector. During standard traffic patrols at the intersection of “Jordan Mijalkov” and “Dimçe Mirçev” streets in Skopje, a police officer from the Skopje Police Department intervened when S.R.

was driving a passenger Mercedes. The vehicle was moving against traffic and attempting to pass several cars. Following a request for identification, S.R.

identified himself as an employee of the Ministry of Public Administration and Border Protection (MPB). He then admitted he lacked a valid personal identification card and reacted with hostile behavior, including threats towards the involved police officer. As a result, the police took S.R.

into custody and immediately informed the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations, and Professional Standards. The ministry’s actions demonstrate continued efforts to maintain order and uphold the law within the country.
