Agim Veliu calls for elections within the party: LDK cannot present the election results as a success

Agim Veliu, a former Deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), issued a sharp critique of the party’s current leadership following the results of the July 7 elections. In a statement shared via Facebook, Veliu assessed that the election outcome could not be characterized as a success, asserting that the political accountability for the result rests squarely with the party’s leadership. Veliu stated that the electorate had delivered a clear verdict, noting that the LDK secured a third-place finish.

He contended that this outcome fell significantly short of the expectations that, in his view, the party’s leadership had established both during and prior to the election campaign. The former deputy specifically directed his criticism toward the party’s leader, Lamir Abdixhiku, and President Vjosa Osmani. Veliu described them as the primary architects of a political project that, in his assessment, originated with elements of deceit.

Furthermore, Agim Veliu leveled accusations against the current administration, suggesting that the leadership had engaged in the centralization of the party’s authority. Through his remarks, Veliu emphasized that the responsibility for the party’s performance was not diffuse but rather concentrated among the top figures. His commentary serves as a direct challenge to the established political narrative surrounding the recent electoral cycle, urging accountability from the leadership structure.
