Agron Maxhuni and Valentina Sopjani are elected members of the KGJK

Judges Agron Maxhuni and Valentina Sopjani have been elected members of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) from the ranks of first-instance judges. Their election occurred during the central session held on Tuesday, following an internal selection process within the basic courts, according to reports from “Betimi për Drejtësi.”

The voting process involved 303 judges participating out of a total of 354 judges who held voting rights. Out of the ballots cast, one was recorded as invalid.

In the election for the new members, Valentina Sopjani received 212 votes, while Agron Maxhuni received 204 votes. Two other candidates, Judge Diora Bajrami and Judge Ilir Bytyqi, received 64 and 84 votes, respectively. The mandate for the newly elected members commences on April 8.

This start date follows the conclusion of the mandate for the two current members, which ends on April 7. The KJC oversees the judiciary in Kosovo.
