Akil Gjakova Still in Bronze Medal Hunt at European Championship

Gjakova’s campaign began unexpectedly successfully, securing two victories that propelled him to the quarterfinal round.
In the second round, he defeated Samuel Gassner of Austria, and subsequently, Benjamin Levy of Great Britain. These early successes saw him advance to the 73 kilogram category quarterfinal. However, Gjakova faced Lasha Shavdatuashvili of Georgia in the quarterfinal, ultimately losing by ippon.
Despite this setback, the judoka is still positioned to vie for a bronze medal through the repechage system.
