Andonovski: “Roaming like at home” is a real European benefit for citizens

The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, participated today in a ministerial meeting convened by the European Commission and ministers representing the Western Balkan region. The central focus of the gathering was the “Roaming like home” initiative, designed to streamline mobile services across the region. During the virtual conference, participants reviewed several critical components, including the established negotiating framework, the subsequent procedural steps required, and an assessment of the Western Balkan countries’ preparedness to integrate with the proposed regime.

This regime aims to ensure that mobile services within the European Union function under familiar “like home” conditions for all users. Speaking at the meeting, Andonovski underscored the strategic importance of this development for the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. He stated that the process holds a high priority level for the nation.

According to Andonovski, the concept of “Roaming like home” transcends mere regulatory harmonization. He emphasized that the initiative represents a concrete and highly visible benefit for the digital economy and the citizens of the region, facilitating seamless connectivity within the wider European framework. The discussions highlighted the commitment of the participating nations to aligning their digital infrastructure with broader European standards.

The meeting served to advance the technical and political dialogue necessary for the Western Balkans to achieve full interoperability, solidifying the path toward unified digital market access.
