A major oil processing facility in the Tyumen region of West Siberia has ceased all crude oil processing and derivative production following a drone attack that occurred over the weekend, according to multiple industry sources cited by Reuters. On Saturday, the regional governor of Tyumen, Alexander Moor, confirmed that a Ukrainian drone struck the industrial refinery, leading to a significant fire at the site. Details provided by sources indicate that the drone attack, which took place on April 25, specifically impacted key operational units within the facility.
The damage was reported to affect a diesel hydrotreating unit, which possesses an annual capacity of 2.6 million metric tons, as well as a combined unit responsible for producing high-octane gasoline. The operational halt at the Tyumen refinery has caused a suspension of normal refining activities. While the timing and direct involvement of the Ukrainian drone in striking the Russian oil refinery remains difficult to verify, the incident has brought the facility’s production capabilities to a standstill.
