Anti-drug operation in Kosovo – 25 kg of marijuana seized and 3 people arrested

The Kosovo Police conducted a significant anti-narcotics operation in the northern region of the country, resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the confiscation of over 25 kilograms of suspected narcotic substance, identified as marijuana. The Directorate for Drug Trafficking Investigation executed the tactical operation, codenamed “KONTROLLI,” following actionable intelligence concerning two suspicious vehicles believed to be transporting illegal narcotics. Authorities monitored the movement of these vehicles, which displayed Serbian license plates, initially at the Border Crossing Point in Vërmicë.

The investigation led to the interception of the vehicles at two separate locations: one in Zveçan and the other in Jarinjë. During a thorough inspection of the vehicle stopped in Zveçan, police officers discovered hidden, modified compartments within the car. These compartments yielded a substantial quantity of the illicit drug, totaling approximately 25.984 kg of marijuana.

Furthermore, the police report indicated that the second vehicle intercepted in Jarinjë was suspected of having served as a logistical facilitator for the smuggling route. This coordinated effort underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement within Kosovo to combat cross-border drug trafficking. The successful operation highlights the police force’s capacity to utilize intelligence gathering and tactical maneuvers to interdict significant quantities of controlled substances moving through the region.

The arrests and seizure represent a major success in curbing illegal drug trade activities in the area.
