Approximately 18 kilograms of marijuana confiscated, two arrested in Kaçanik

Kosovo authorities reported the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, resulting in the confiscation of approximately 18 kilograms of suspected marijuana in the Kaçanik region. According to an official police announcement, the operation took place on June 19, 2026, around 5:30 PM. The incident began when police officers from the Kaçanik Police Station initiated a routine inspection of a vehicle.

The driver initially failed to comply with the police order, managing to evade the stop temporarily. However, after the deployment of various police units, the vehicle was successfully located and brought to a halt. Simultaneously, investigators from the Directorate for Drug Trafficking Investigation (DHTN) conducted a separate ground inspection along the road where the suspicious vehicle was believed to have traveled.

During this sweep, investigators discovered three bags discarded within an area containing debris. Following initial verifications, the investigation confirmed the presence of the narcotics. The combined efforts of the police units led to the apprehension of the two suspects and the seizure of the illicit materials.

Authorities confirmed that the confiscated substance weighed approximately 18 kilograms. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the police to combat drug trafficking networks within the region.
