Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid and Barcelona have reacted to the Video Assistant Referee’s (VAR) decision to halt a match, a decision initiated by the “Metropolitano” club. The clubs expressed their dissatisfaction with the VAR’s intervention following a yellow card issued to Busquets Ferrer for the foul against Gerard Martín on Saturday. In response, Atletico Madrid has requested an official explanation from the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA).
The club argues that differing criteria were applied compared to those utilized by the match officials themselves. “It’s impossible to compete when one rule is explained and then a different one is applied,” stated Atletico Madrid, referencing the intervention which mirrors a similar action taken by VAR five weeks prior regarding Valentin Barco’s contact with Ratiu. The clubs are seeking clarification on the application of VAR protocols and the consistency of judgments made during matches.
