The Albanian Agency of Food and Veterinary (AUV) has initiated action against VITA Dairy following official inspections and subsequent laboratory analysis conducted by the Kosovo Food and Veterinary Laboratory (LUVK). According to the AUV, the inspections revealed that twelve specific products marketed as dairy items were non-compliant. The discrepancies were attributed to the presence of palm oil, powdered milk, and/or undeclared starch within these items.
Consequently, the AUV has mandated the immediate withdrawal of these non-compliant products from the market. The Agency highlighted the most significant findings concerning items explicitly labeled as milk. Specifically, the AUV reported that four samples, drawn from four different products sold and declared as milk, failed compliance testing.
These four samples were found to contain undeclared ingredients: two samples tested positive for palm oil, and the remaining two contained undeclared powdered milk. These findings underscore the AUV’s commitment to ensuring consumer safety within the dairy sector. The enforcement action taken by the AUV is based on laboratory evidence indicating that the composition of the products did not match their declared nature.
The directive for withdrawal aims to prevent the sale of goods that contain undisclosed additives or ingredients.
