Specifically, the Council reportedly refused to process the withdrawal of pledges made by certain judges and Serbian staff members. Following this refusal, the Judicial Council subsequently petitioned the acting president of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, to dismiss these individuals from their posts.
An EU spokesperson highlighted that this situation mirrors a previous incident in April, when the Kosovo Prosecution Council oversaw a similar action, leading to the dismissal of Serbian prosecutors who had previously submitted pledges. In a formal statement, the spokesperson asserted that these recent determinations “do not appear to be in line with the laws in Kosovo, with regular procedures, and with the general demands for the rule of law in Kosovo.”
