Bentley’s first electric vehicle finally has a name: Torcal

Bentley, mirroring trends across the automotive industry, has significantly accelerated its commitment to fully electric mobility. While the manufacturer had previously targeted the arrival of its all-electric vehicle lineup for 2030, current plans indicate a much nearer debut. Despite adjustments to its long-term roadmap, the company confirmed that its initial all-electric model is set for a world premiere later this year.

According to reports from Telegrafi, the vehicle, which is slated to debut in London on September 23, has been officially named the Torcal. This naming represents a shift from the previous designation, where Bentley had referred to its forthcoming electric vehicle as the “Urban SUV.”

While the name change and the specific model designation are notable, the vehicle itself is expected to maintain a substantial presence on the market. Although the Torcal will feature a smaller footprint compared to the flagship Bentayga, it is anticipated to retain the characteristic dimensions associated with a Bentley vehicle, including the iconic Flying B hood ornament.

The launch of the Torcal marks a critical milestone for the brand’s transition. This will be the first dedicated electric offering from Crewe to reach the market, signaling a definitive commitment from Bentley to electrify its product range. The debut is expected to provide a detailed look at how the luxury brand intends to integrate high performance with sustainable, electric powertrain technology.
